untitled8South Carolina, Oct. 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In South Carolina, the Richland county jail had an inmate, 39 year old Olin Taylor hang himself with the help of his shoe laces at 5.30 on Saturday evening. He had a cell to himself in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. He was brought in on the charges of assaulting women.

In the same county jail, a 21 year old female doing her time, Angela Meitzner used the sheets of her bed to hang herself on Tuesday. She had been bought in on the several counts of fraud and forgery. She had been bought in last Friday and was sharing her cell with other three inmates as well. According to the Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, she was discovered by the guards early morning after the lights were put on after the night. Both the inmates left no note.

Also since there were no physical injuries discovered on their bodies, the deaths point to a suicide. But what is interesting to note is both these inmates were not kept on a suicide watch which means they were not suicidal. Then what led them to take their own lives?

The investigation has not been closed yet with the county’s administration and jail leadership reviewing the procedures being followed in jail. They are making sure whether all the protocols were being maintained in the jail administration. The press release issued by the authorities failed to mention whether they were taking any precautions to keep any more people from committing suicide.
