Two hospitalized after Acworth, Georgia helicopter crash
August 12th, 2009 - 10:44 pm ICT by John Le FevreTwo people have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a civilian helicopter crashed in Acworth, Georgia this morning.
The McDonald Douglas 369E H500, registered to Rotorworks, LLC. in Hiram, crashed close to houses early Wednesday morning near Industrial Center Lane.
The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) said the crash site is about six miles northwest of McCollum Field in Kennesaw and said no reason for the crash was immediately available.
Authorities said it had been raining in the area but did not know if this contributed to the crash.
The two people onboard the helicopter have been transported to Kenenstone Hospital and the helicopter remains on its side in light brush close to houses.
Authorities said no property was damaged in the crash.
