Two Florida men sentenced for series of armed robberies

MIAMI, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – Two Florida residents were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their participation in a series of armed robberies and for using a firearm during a crime of violence, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

Michael Shane Ragland, 21, of Hobe Sound, Florida, was sentenced to 2352 months (196) years imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.

Deshawn Kenneth James, 20, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, was sentenced to 1017 months (over 84 years) in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Ragland, James and four others were members of an armed robbery group responsible for robbing ten convenience stores from December 2007 to February 2008. They

The other four members have already been sentenced but not to lengthy terms like James and Ragland. They were arrested on March 16, 2009, after a year long investigation.
