Two die in Gresham, Oregon restaurant shootings

GRESHAM, OREGON (BNO NEWS) — Two people were killed and several more were injured after a murder-suicide at a restaurant in downtown Gresham, Oregon on Friday evening, officials said.

Officers with the Gresham Police Department were dispatched at 9.47 p.m. local time to a report of shots being fired at the M & M Restaurant & Lounge at 137 North Main Avenue, according to Sergeant Richard Wilson. “Upon arrival, police found four unidentified victims suffering [from] gunshot wounds,” he said.

Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene while two others were transported to Emanuel and the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately known.

“During the course of the investigation Gresham Detectives have determined that the suspect shot and killed himself at the scene,”Wilson said. He said the investigation is continuing and detectives from the Major Crimes Team have responded to the scene. Numerous witnesses are being interviewed.

The area around the restaurant is expected to remain closed until later Saturday. “There will be no victim information released until we are certain that all family members have been notified,” Wilson said.

Gresham is a city located in Multnomah County, east of the city of Portland.
