Two British soldiers killed in Afghanistan
July 27th, 2009 - 11:27 pm ICT by adminKABUL (BNO NEWS) — Two NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members were killed in southern Afghanistan on Monday, the alliance said.
The soldiers died as a result of two separate incidents involving improvised explosive device (IED) strikes that occurred in southern Afghanistan. Further details were not immediately available but the British Ministry of Defence confirmed they were British soldiers.
“I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of these two fine soldiers,” said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, who is a spokesman for ISAF. “Alongside our Afghan security partners, ISAF soldiers are making a significant contribution in one of the toughest parts of the country. These hard sacrifices are making a real difference for the population of Afghanistan,” he added.
