CLEARWATER, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – Two adults, a male and a female, were found dead in their apartment in Clearwater, Florida on Wednesday, the Clearwater Department of Public Safety said.

Both deceased were in their 30s and were last seen about 24 hours before they were found. The couple was found locked in their bedroom while four children were in the apartment. The children, whose ages were not immediately released, were concerned and called a friend of the family, who came over and checked on the adults.

Clearwater Public Safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said the friend was not able to open the door because it was locked from the inside and subsequently contacted the Clearwater Police Department for assistance at 9:05 a.m. Police officers arrived at the scene and had to force their entry into the bedroom, where the two bodies were found.

The causes of their deaths were not immediately released.

Also on Wednesday, Clearwater homicide detectives received a call at 7:59 a.m. local time regarding a potential murder at a residence on Sunset Point Road. Detectives responded to the residence to determine the nature of the death.

However, law enforcement agents were still waiting to get a warrant to enter the house and make a preliminary assessment.

The two cases are not related.
