Tropical Storm Tomas Likely To Turn Into A Hurricane

Miami, Oct 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tropical Storm Tomas has formed a major depression along the Atlantic and could gain the strength of a hurricane, the United States National Hurricane Center has revealed. On Friday evening, the storm attained force along the southwest direction of the Windward Islands while it boasted of a maximum sustained wind speed of 60 miles per hour.
According to the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center, the epi-center of the Tropical Storm Tomas is expected to move across the northern Windward Islands on Saturday and later make its way towards the eastern region of the Caribbean Sea. At the same time, the hurricane center has also divulged that the storm could bring along with itself heavy rains ranging from 3 to 5 inches across extensive regions of the Windward Islands as well as southern Leeward Islands while the isolated areas might be lashed with as much as 8 inches of rain. In the next 48 hours, Tropical Storm Tomas is likely to gain immense force and it is expected to be upgraded to a hurricane in the upcoming days.
In the meanwhile, officials storm warning have already been issued in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent, Grenada, Martinique, the Grenadines as well as Saint Lucia. Apart from Tropical Storm Tomas which is likely to attain considerable power in the next few days, the southern part of Bermuda is also reeling under the onslaught of another storm which has been named Tropical Storm Shary. Unlike Tomas, Tropical Storm Shary is expected to weaken over the next few days,weather officials have predicted.
