Caribbean, Oct 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tropical storm Rina was traveling at a sustained top speed of 65 kph on Monday morning. The Miami-based National Hurricane Center announced that the storm was located at about 210 kilometers on the eastern tip of the border between Honduras and Nicaragua as at 5 a.m. ET.

The storm is expected to strengthen over the next two days but the NHC says the storm could change direction during that time. Honduras has been placed on flash-flood alert after it was reported that the storm could trigger up to 5 inches of rain at certain places.

The NHC’s statement said that, “A gradual turn toward the west is expected over the next 48 hours.”

The center predicted that it is more likely that the storm will turn to the west in the next couple of days. The northeastern part of Honduras is one of the likely targets of the storm which is also 310 kilometers south-southwest of Grand Cayman Island.

Forecasters have plotted the path of the storm and they say the Yucatan Peninsula stands in the way of the storm. The storm is not likely to reach the place until the weekend which makes the prediction not reliable because there could be many changes until them.
