Tropical Storm Karl forms over the northwestern Caribbean Sea, warnings issued

MIAMI (BNO NEWS) — Tropical Storm Karl formed over the northwestern Caribbean Sea on late Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said, and warnings were issued for parts of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Karl formed about 435 kilometers (270 miles0 east of Chetumal, Mexico with maximum sustained winds near 65 kilometers (40 miles) per hour.

A tropical storm warning was issued for the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula from Chetumal at the Mexico-Belize border northward to Cabo Catoche. In Belize, a tropical storm watch was issued for the coast of northern Belize from Belize City to the Mexico-Belize border.
