rain Mexico City, Sep 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tropical storm Hermine weakened to tropical depression on Tuesday after it has pummeled the coast of Texas. However the storm did not cause any massive damage to Texas with the exception of some minor scrapes.

Texans were shocked when Hermine entered the State with the strength of almost a hurricane when they were expecting just a storm. But the storm weakened later, to the relief of the residents. The worst damage Hermine cause was ripping of motel roof and some power cuts. The storm hit Texas on the weekend.

But the storm was not that generous to Mexico. The storm led to the evacuation of 3,500 people and several others were left homeless after it destroyed some 20 homes in the country. The storm knocked out power supply to some of the towns in the country for several hours.

But there were no recorded deaths or injuries as a result of Hermine hitting Mexico. Around 1,000 families are living in temporary shelters but that is better than when Hurricane Alex hit the country during the summer. Alex left 12 people dead and left several others injured with yet more homeless.

In Texas, there were also no records of deaths or injuries and The United States National Hurricane Center in Miami said that evacuation was not necessary even for low-lying areas.
