Trapped Chicago firefighters rescued
December 22nd, 2010 - 11:28 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattChicago, Dec 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A collapsed wall in Chicago has trapped some firefighters.
There are conflicting reports about exactly how many people have been trapped under the rubbles. The Chicago Sun-Times reported earlier that around four firefighters have been rescued from the rubble.
Another report though from WGN-TV said only two firefighters have been rescued. The report indicated that two other firefighters were still trapped under the rubble and rescuers were busy in trying to locate them.
There were several firefighters at the scene. They were going through the rubble to save the trapped firefighters who were fighting to stop a raging fire in an abandoned commercial building in the city. After the accident, a “mayday” call was put through and several rescuers rushed to the location to help rescue the trapped firefighters.
However fire officials at the scene did not immediately know the number of firefighters that were trapped. Though it has been confirmed that some firefighters have been rescued, their number is not clear.
