Train crash kills at least 19, injures hundreds in central Bangladesh
December 8th, 2010 - 7:09 pm ICT by BNO NewsDHAKA (BNO NEWS) — At least 19 people were killed and hundreds more were injured when two trains collided in central Bangladesh on Wednesday afternoon, police and local media reported.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. local time near the Narsingdi Railway station in the country’s Narsingdi district. Police said at least 19 people had been killed, while adding “around” 300 people sustained injuries.
The crash involved an intercity and a local train. The intercity was en-route to the city of Chittagong, in southeastern Bangladesh, while the local train was en-route to the capital, Dhaka.
