Toy Dart Gun Recalled By Family Dollar Stores

Toy Dart GunMay 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a latest development, Family Dollar Stores has announced a recall of toy dart guns sold from its U.S. stores. The recall will affect approximately 1.8 million sets that were sold between a 4 year period starting from September 2005. The toy guns were imported by a company named Henry Gordy International, based in Plainfield, New Jersey but that refused to recall the sets. Hence Family Dollar Stores along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission declared the recall. So far two deaths have taken place from these guns. As per the reports, two teenagers aged below 10 died from using the toy guns in Chicago and Milwaukee.

The Family Dollar stores sold these China-made toy sets at a price of $1.50 per unit. It has been found that these sets can lead to breathing trouble if the children try keeping them in their mouth. The recall affects both the models of the toy guns. The owners of thee guns have been asked to take the guns from their kids. They can alternatively submit the guns to the Family Dollar stores after which they will get full refund. The two boys who died tried chewing the soft darts supplied with the guns and they got stuck in their throats. They suffocated to their death afterwards.

Earlier this year some of the China made toys were recalled from the US market owing to high levels of lead in them. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has said that Family Dollar, the North Carolina-based retailer is operating with it regarding the recall. It mainly targets the low and mid income level buyers.
