May 20, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The jewelry of Miley Cyrus at Wal-Mart has purportedly been labeled as toxic with massive levels of the metal cadmium. The seller, Wal-Mart, is now extracting the complete line of brand necklaces and bracelets from the shelves.

The store chain acquainted itself with the cadmium pollution after early examination was executed in February. Long-standing contact with cadmium can lead to calamitous consequences such as bone softening and kidney malfunction. Cadmium also is a recognized carcinogen. Investigations have emphasized that cadmium can, similar to lead, encumber cerebral growth in the kids.

This shocking news is an overwhelming blow to the brand of Wal-Mart. There are many queries that have been generated as to why Wal-Mart continued to vend the jewelry subsequent to the examination in February. On April 9, the company stated to all its sellers to provide evidence that items vended to children possessed scanty or no cadmium.

The company also revealed to the Consumer Product Safety Commission that testing the items already on its shelves would be too complicated. The retailer also divulged that the charm bracelets were created in China and were vended to juniors without identifying an age group. The detractors have emphasized that Wal-Mart should be the one identifying the age, since it is the seller that sells the product.
