Touchdown Jesus Nov 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The ‘King of Kings’ statue which stood for years at Solid Rock Church in Ohio was often called ‘Touchdown Jesus’ due to the arms of Jesus on the statue which were thrown into the air in much the same way as a referee does to call a touchdown in football.

The famous landmark was burned to the ground after being struck by lightening on June 14, 2010. Now two Cincinnati artists have been chosen to design it’s replacement, and have decided on a fifty-one foot high statue which will show Jesus with his arms stretched out, not up. Called the “Come Unto Me” statue, the design is meant to look as though Jesus’s arms are outstretched in invitation.

Steve Brauch and Tm Tsuchiya were picked from six different artists to design and sculpt the new full-standing statue. It will stand on eleven feet of rocks, and water will flow from the rocks into a reflecting pool which will stand in front of the Lord. The steel substructure will have a lightening resistant system installed.
