Tornado Rips Through Dundee, Creates Havoc

tornado DundeeJune 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michigan’s most important tourist spot, Dundee, was damaged by a tornado that ripped through the state on Sunday at 2:17 am. The Tornado reportedly touched down at Dundee overnight and caused severe damage to Cabela’s and Splash Universe water park.

The weather department has revealed that the extent of the damage is still unknown and a special team will be sent to assess the situation.

They however confirmed that it was a tornado of significant magnitude.

The tornado which ripped through parts of Michigan and Ohio has reportedly hurt more than 150 people and damaged or destroyed several homes. The residents described the horrifying tornado having the sound of an approaching train.

The rain, according to the residents, intensified around Saturday night, bringing with it the wind. There were reportedly formation of two separate tornadoes in the area around Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Most residents protected themselves by hiding in the basement. The next morning they saw uprooted trees and displaced cars.

The streets were also flooded due to the rainfall that followed the tornado. The roof of the holiday Inn, Cabela’s, was blown off and a number of people were injured in the incident.

News reports from the area have said that as many as 5 people have been killed in the storm but no official announcements about the number of casualties has been released.

More than 28,000 families in the area have remained without power since the storm but they aren’t really complaining considering the damage the tornado could have really caused.

A state of emergency was declared in the affected area.
