Dec 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Noted rock drummer Tommy Lee, who is also known as the ex-spouse of former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson, is in the headlines for the wrong reasons lately. He is hogging the limelight now after getting involved in a peculiar dispute regarding the artificial insemination of the killer whales kept at a theme park in Florida. It all started when the famous chain of aquatic parks namely SeaWorld declared that its staffs will not deal with a massive killer whale named Tilikum that killed three people in recent times in its center in Florida. Tommy Lee on behalf of PETA or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals contacted the company saying this is unfair.
He accused that the SeaWorld uses the whales as sperm bank and the way they obtain the sperm from the whales should not be supported. However, the company has maintained that his claim is not true at all. Tommy Lee has also challenged SeaWorld saying that he would videotape the sperm collection procedure so that people can see that and decide for themselves. However, SeaWorld did not respond to the second letter of the noted musician. The rocker says that he has interacted with former employees of the company and he has evidence to establish his claims. If the claims are proved true it may subject the company to severe backlash from animal rights activists.
Tommy Lee has referred to an article written by John Hall, a former scientist associated with SeaWorld which narrates the measures adopted by animal care crews to breed the huge creatures. He has also referred to former health and safety director of SeaWorld, Linda Simons.
