Washington, Nov 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The US Marine Corps is 236 years today (the 10th of November 2011). Several activities have been lined up to mark the day. Distinguished Marines will be honored on the day as well.

On Saturday, the Central Wisconsin Marine Corps Birthday Ball Celebration will be marked at the Plaza Hotel. The event will start from 5:30 p.m. and all marines, active and retired, are invited. The spouses of the guests are also automatically invited to the birthday ball.

The event organizer is Bryan Thacter. He told newsmen that there will be a ceremonial cake cutting on the day to mark the anniversary. The guests will be entertained with tunes from over the years. High Volume Entertainment will be in charge of the music that will be played at the event.

All the invited guests to the event will be given a door prize.

The marines are one of the most respected groups in the United States. Former US President Ronald Reagan once said that, “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they make a difference in the world. But the Marines don’t have that problem…There are only two kinds of people who understand Marines, Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.”
