New York, Oct 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Employees all over the world have the opportunity to show their appreciation to their bosses because it is the Boss Day. Every year, the 17th of October has been set aside to show appreciation to the people many people dread to love.

It is believed that the Boss Day, which has gone international, started in the United States. Patricia Bays Haroski is credited with creating the day when she filed the registration request with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1958. She got the backing of the governor of Illinois in 1962 to have the day recognized as a national holiday.

Over the years, the celebration of the day has been the subject of controversy in the United States because several people would rather keep a distant relationship with their bosses.

The celebration of the day has several variations. The celebration in India is unique because instead of the subordinates getting gifts for their bosses, it is rather the bosses who show their love to the subordinates by presenting them with gifts. That makes you want to be employed by an Indian!

Several countries around the world including South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom and Ireland all mark the day on their calendars.
