Today 3rd February (Friday) is ‘National Wear Red Day’ for women

New York, Feb 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Today 3rd of February is ‘National Wear Red Day’ for women to create awareness about heart disease. It ought to be mentioned that heart disease is a major silent killer on the prowl. According to reports, people generally believe that heart disease primarily affects men and women are spared its fury. However it is totally a myth, as the latest figures reveal that it is one of the major causes of death in the US for women.

For men and women combined, heart disease is the number three cause of death in the US, whereas for the women folk, it’s the number fourth cause of death. And there is another myth associated with heart disease, that it primarily affects the older people. However it is not so, because even young people can be affected by it.

31 years old Carrie Lehtonen is a living example of a young heart patient. She suffered her first heart attack at the young age of 31, which needless to say, surprised and shocked her to the core.

“Really listen to your body. I was very fortunate that I was with friends that insisted I go to the hospital cause if I had been home by myself and I wouldn’t have thought anything of it being related to my heart and I wouldn’t have gone to the hospital. So I think it’s really important for people to listen to their body,” according to Carrie.
