Time change for Fall 2011
November 4th, 2011 - 11:38 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Nov 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) United States will switch their clock backwards by an hour on Sunday morning. The Daylight Saving Time will officially end in the country at 2 a.m. Americans will lose one hour of productivity and gain one hour of sleep when the time is changed.
The clocks will be set to Standard Time after the adjustment is made. The clocks were set to one hour ahead in the second Sunday of March. The concept of Daylight Saving is meant to save energy.
Though it has been around for several years, it was not until the end of World War I that the world took the concept seriously. The United States and Europe adopted the concept and has practiced it each year since that time. Though the statement is true for most countries in Europe who started practicing it, the same cannot be said of the United States.
The country has instituted the concept on several occasions and repealed it on numerous other occasions. The concept was officially observed by the US law in 1918 but it was later repealed. The law suffered similar fates until it was permanently re-enacted in 1966. The law was changed in 2005 to become the Energy Policy Act.
