Tiger Woods’ Threat to Sue PETA, Blocks Ad

Feb 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Although it was most likely meant to be a funny, cute new slogan for their ads, Tiger Woods was not laughing at all when he caught wind of the new billboards that PETA had planned to install.
PETA, which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, had made plans to launch a new campaign which included running ads on billboards reading “Too much sex can be a bad thing … for little tigers too. Help keep cats (and dogs) out of trouble: Always spay or neuter.” underneath a picture of Tiger Woods face. While they may not have been able to keep Tiger Woods out of trouble, the Tiger Woods camp is very protective of the name and logo, brands, and slogans that the name represents.
According to ” Page Six”, PETA had this to say, “Lawyers for the golfer threatened to sue the activists if they used his once-valuable image in their campaign urging owners to neuter their pets. So now PETA says it will feature another famous philanderer, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, with the possible tagline: “Your dog doesn’t have to go to South America to get laid.”
One has to wonder what on earth these type of slogans has got to do with animal treatment, especially the one concerning Mark Sanford. At least Tiger has an animal name.
