Collins Trial FootballFormer Nebraska Cornhusker Thunder Collins has been sentenced for life when he was proven guilty of first-degree homicide. In September 2008, he was accused of being involved in a shooting episode in Omaha that seriously wounded a man leaving the other dead, reportedly. He was arrested a day after the incident occurred. The man who was victimized and lost his life was called Timothy Thomas.

The jury also confirmed an attempt of second-degree murder (with regard to wounding Marshall Turner), holding weapons and a charge for assault in addition to his primary charge. The murder was committed when a drug deal went out of hand sources revealed. Collins had tried robbing the men reportedly.

The 29 year old black man lost his nerve in the courtroom and was heard shrieking frustratingly at the 12 member jury: “Are You Happy? Are You Happy? You Know I didn’t kill anyone!” The player in an interview admitted that it was his status as a player, that had complicated the reception of the case, adding that had he been a normal guy he would have got acquitted.

Collins had a tarnished police record prior to his involvement in this mishap. In 2006, he was sentenced for a period of 10 days, when he allegedly obstructed an Omaha police officer. Even then marijuana had been spotted in his pocket. Steve Lefler, Collin’s attorney will soon be appealing to court stating that the witnesses on the case are not stating the truth and misinterpreting things.

Collins represented the Cornhuskers from 2000-02.His best days were in the period 2001, when he completed 12 games, running for 647 yards, catching 19 passes in a mind-boggling cover of 189 yards. He left the team when he got busy taking care of his brother, whom he tried to protect from getting involved in a gang reportedly.
