However, the father, who is currently in police custody has denied the charges, giving out a different version.

The three children have gone missing from the small Michigan town of Morenci. Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks told to the media that their father has been arrested soon after he was released from a mental hospital in Ohio, where he was undergoing treatment following a suicidal attempt. According to sources, John Skelton had tried to commit suicide on Friday. Larry Weeks said that till now from whatever hints they have been able to gather from their investigations, it is most likely that the children are not alive any more. They are suspecting their father to be the reason behind the kidnapping case. John Skelton said that before trying to end his life on Friday, he did not want his kids to be with him. According to him, the last time they were with him, after that the children were given to a female acquaintance by him, whom he had asked to take the three kids to their mother.

However, police is strictly seen to disbelieve this statement of the accused and said the story related to the female acquaintance is completely fake. Hundreds of volunteers had gathered to help the police authorities in the search for the three children in southern Michigan and northern Ohio, without any positive outcome.
