Three Mile Islands Leak: Cause Under Investigation

Pennsylvania, Nov. 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The news of the leak in the “Three Miles Island nuclear reactors” in Pennsylvania created panic among people and the authorities decided to evacuate the place completely, for preventing any loss of life. According to the sources, over one hundred and fifty people who worked in the nuclear reactors were removed from the place and sent back home, after contamination alarm were issued to prevent any kind of health hazards.
Engineers of Exelon have started to investigate the cause of this leak but have not confirmed any cause till Sunday. Official sources stated that till the cause of the contamination gets confirmed, they will not issue any statement about the leak as everything is under speculation.
According to sources, twenty employees were exposed to this contamination but the level of contamination were quite low and they were not expected to have any health issues. One of the employees was reported to have received 16 millirem exposure but that will not have any adverse effect on his health. Exelon officials stated that the containment building was closed from October 26 and so there were not much employees when the reports of contamination surfaced.
The exposure levels in the nuclear reactor plants were below the mark set by Nuclear Regulatory Commission of the United States and people living around this region is also not expected to get any kind of health threats for this leak. The “Three Miles Island nuclear reactors” is one of the oldest nuclear reactors of the country and federal officials are trying to find out the cause of this contamination.
