Hackensack, July 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A three-level parking garage collapsed in New Jersey. The cause of the collapse is said to be an overhang, which fell on the garage.

The parking garage collapsed on Friday morning and it is still being ascertained if there were any causalities. However two people were reported missing, so the emergency officials are trying their best to find out if they are buried under the debris of the garage or not.

The Hackensack Fire Captain Thomas Salsedo said that the emergency officials are also trying to get a clear understanding of the damage incurred in the collapse. The garage is the parking space for the adjoining high-rise apartment building.

One of the witnesses to the collapse was Chris Baldo who stays on the first floor of the apartment complex. According to News 12, he said that he heard a rumbling sound and then he looked at the garage and saw it collapse like a pack of cars. He said that he heard “rumbling that sounded like an earthquake or a plane, like something hit the building. It sounded like the whole building was collapsing. I grabbed my dog and my mom and ran out. The whole building was shaking. I looked outside and watched everything go down.”
