Three Illegal Immigrants Nabbed By Authorities In Chemical Lorry

Sep 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As many as three illegal immigrants who were making their way into United Kingdom in a lorry that carried chemicals have been nabbed by the authorities on Friday. Officials have divulged that the three immigrants were found to be at the back of the lorry as it was on its way to cross the English Channel from Calais to Dover.
According to reports, the immigrants were discovered by the UK Border Agency officers after they carried out a search in the vehicle with the help of sniffer dogs after the load in the lorry sparked the suspicion. The vehicle which was registered to Slovakia was full of chemicals which was stored one above the other while the three illegal passengers who hail from Eritrea, in North East Africa, were found huddled at the back of the lorry. Soon after being stopped by the authorities, the three illegal immigrants were taken off from the vehicle and subsequently the French police took charge of their custody while the lorry continued with its journey to Seaton Delaval.
Following the incident, Carole Upshall, the director of the UK Border Agency told the reporters that the incident points out the expertise and the determination that is needed by the officials of the UK Border Agency to counter illegal immigration. Moreover, the UKBA director also went to state that last year as whopping 29,000 individual attempts that were made to cross the English channel illegally were prevented by officers of the agency while as many as 1,000,000 freight vehicles were searched to hinder illegal immigration.
