Three Conn. teenagers arrested for speeding and marijuana possession in NY

PLEASANT VALLEY, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) – Three teenagers from Connecticut were arrested last Sunday, state police said on Monday.

Peter K. Nugent, 16, from Sharon, Connecticut was the driver of a Toyota pickup, which was following another vehicle very closely with its high beams on and speeding at 72 mph in a 45 mph zone.

After Troopers Garcia and Shaw from the Poughkeepsie Barracks followed the truck, they obtained a second reading of 90 mph in a 55 mph zone in the Town of Pleasant Valley and proceeded with a traffic stop.

Nugent was stopped and then arrested for DWI, possession of marijuana, driving without a license, and speeding.

Eighteen-year-old passenger, Shelby E. Baird, of West Cornwall, Connecticut was also arrested for possession of marijuana and alcohol by a person under 21. In the back seat was Sean G. Greene, 16, of Kent, Connecticut who was charged for possession of a weapon, an illegal knife.

The three suspects were released to their parents and are expected to appear in Pleasant Valley Town Court on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
