BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) — Iraqi Security Forces (ISQ) arrested three suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) associates, U.S. Forces in Iraq said Monday.

ISF and U.S. advisers searched several locations for an AQI member in a joint security operation, which was conducted approximately 27 km north of Baghdad on Sunday. The suspect is believed to have supported terror cells in Baghdad by building vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, also known as IEDs, and having ties to other AQI leaders.

After the searches, information and evidence gathered at the scene led ISF to identify and arrest the three suspected criminal associates of the warranted individual.

Iraqi and U.S. forces conduct joint operations in accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government to target terrorists seeking to disrupt the security and stability of Iraq.
