ferrari-blaze-pic-swns-529767173 September 6, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The high performance sports vehicle, Ferrari 458 Italia was described by the manufacturer as a clean break from the past as it was deemed to be far superior to Maranello’s previous sports cars which were geared for high performance as well.

The two- seater Berlinetta which runs on 8 cylinders also features an engine which is mounted at the mid rear part of the car. This particularly brand priced at $250,000 is now being recalled following reports of it catching fire easily.

Ferrari clarified the facts saying that their engineers are now looking at the matter. The thermal incidents have resulted in the recall of about 1200 vehicles which will now be modified.

The source of the fire is the adhesive that had been used for holding the wheel arch assemblies said the spokesperson for Ferrari. The glue might start smoking and even burst into flames on being overheated said the unnamed Ferrari spokesperson to BBC news. He further elaborated on the heat lining becoming deformed with the melting of the adhesive. This causes the lining to move nearer to the exhaust resulting in a fire.

The owners who had experienced the effects will be able to get replacements while the others buyers will have to get their cars modified. Ferrari will replace the adhesives with mechanical fasteners.

The Daily Mail has put the number of cars catching fire at five. There are a fewer number of Ferrari 458 Italia set to be recalled in the US as Ferrari had launched the car across the States only in June this year.
