The 19th Duggar kid - Josie Duggar is a month old

January 12th, 2010 - 12:30 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt Tell a Friend -

Duggar Family Little Rock, Jan 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 19th kid of the Duggars – Josie Duggar is a month old now. Josie was born 3 months premature on 10th of December 2009. Her mother Michelle was suffering from preeclampsia and hence Josie was born via the C-section 3 months before she was due. When she was born then she was only 1 pound, 6 ounces. She’s been in the neonatal ICU at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences ever since she was born.

The whole Duggar clan has uprooted themselves temporarily from Tontitown to Little Rock to be near the smallest Duggar member – Josie Duggar. “Our entire family has relocated to Little Rock temporarily to be close to Josie,” Jim Bob Duggar said. “In the meantime, we’re grateful that a close friend in Little Rock has opened up their home to us for the holidays.”

The Duggar family thanked everyone for the love, support and wishes that they showered on the petite Josie Brooklyn Duggar. Her father Jim Bob says that the waiting is very hard, as the first 30 days of a premature infant are the most delicate, but that they had totally trusted God in the process. “God’s will is what we would choose if we knew all the facts. Our children’s spiritual maturity is going to deepen so much through this, in a way that couldn’t happen any other way,” says the grateful dad.

I was born 4 months early at 23 weeks gestation and I weighed less than Josie—1 pound 4 ounces. If I can survive I am sure she can and will. :) Congrats Duggars! Keep the faith. Love the show so much.

  2. Tiffany Says:

Wow, that is awesome!!!!! Look at what GOD has done.

  3. Heather G, Says:

God is good. :) If He can save me He can save Josie too. The doctors to my mom to abort me because they said it would be a miracle if I survived. They said I had a 3% chance of surviving the 1st night I was born. She didn’t listen and God proved them wrong by saving me! :)

  4. Melanie Says:

Congrats to you all! Josie is yet another beautiful miracle you have brought into this world. My daughter was born prematurely weighing 3lbs 8ozs, every day was a milestone with many set backs along the way. You have to continue to trust in God and keep faith, I did, and now I have a very energetic and intelligent 4yr old. Miracles happen everyday and I feel that with all of the love you each have to give Josie she will be just fine. Have patience and she will be home before you know it :)

  5. Layna Says:

My grandfather was born in 1920 weighing in at around 2lbs. he was put in a sewing machine drawer and kept warm by the coal stove. He grew to be 6′4″ and weighed 220lbs! God works miracles. We’ll be praying for little Josie.

  6. Gladys Says:

I am so happy to hear little Josie is holing her own. One month already! Seems like just yesterday.
I so love the Duggers. Each of their children have warmed my heart just watching their show.
I pray that Josie grows up to be good and strong not only physically but Spiritually. God will provide if you just keep the faith!
Much love to the Dugger family…I knew a family when I was a child who had 18 children. The only reason they stopped having babies was because the mom got to be middle aged and could not have any more. The children I knew ranged from being in their 50’s to being in their teens. They were spread out, but were still a close and loving family. God blessed them and will bless the Duggar family….God said Live well and Prosper!
Take care Duggers I hope you all grow from this experience!
I miss seeing all of you on the show so please as soon as you can, please come back!

  7. Nawn Says:

See what god has done? More like look what science and technology has done. Only due to the advances in science are Josie and other premie’s able to survive.

  8. Jenny Says:

Nawn- Science only goes so far! Just read what Layna wrote again: “My grandfather was born in 1920 weighing in at around 2lbs… He grew to be 6′4″ and weighed 220lbs!” Science had nothing to do with that! Science and technology is imperfect… God is the one who has power over life and death! I believe the God has blessed and is continuing to bless a family who has stayed so true to His plan!

  9. Nika Says:

Nawn, I sincerely hope that you will never have to go through what the Duggars are going through. When your child’s life is in question, no-one ever drops to their knees and says “Please Science! Help me Technology!” Think about it.

  10. Melinda Says:

I love the show. The children are so well behaved. However, I don’t think it’s fair to stick the older children to raise the younger ones. And, it’s time for either Michelle or JimBob to get spayed & neutured.

  11. April Says:

    april vela

  12. Denise Says:

I have to tell you that 33 years ago I also had eclampsia and was advised to abort the baby becuase one of us wouldnt survive, Thankfully I ignored the advice and had a 9lb 15oz little boy, he is a healthy, 33 year old man whom I love dearly, God had a plan ! Keep the faith,

  13. Annette Says:

We will pray for Josie and your family!

  14. LAURA RAY Says:

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD IN YOUR LIFE YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB RAISING YOUR KIDS YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS GOD BLESS YOU ALL

  15. Ramona Wiggins Says:

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU DUGGARS. I LOVE YOUR SHOW AND CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE LITTLE JOSIE AT HOME WITH HER FAMILY. IT IS SO NICE AND SPECIAL TO SEE A TV SHOW THESE DAYS THAT IS BASED ON GOD, LOVE AND FAMILY. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.

  16. Saraleh Says:

To Nawn- Who do you think made science possible? God put the idea of it into someone’s head. As the saying goes, “With God, all things are possible.” He made science so it would be available in situations like these. I am hoping and praying that this child will have a fighting chance to live a great life. My niece was born at 29 weeks gestation, weighing only 1 pound. She is now a very healthy 2 year old who is smart as a whip. If it wasn’t for God making science possible, who knows if she would be here.

  17. Jennifer B. Says:

God has blessed this family with 19 beautiful children and one beautiful grandchild. Through the miracle of science (and, yes, it is God’s miracle), little Josie is being given a fighting chance at life and I believe it is because this family is so dedicated to Him and His word. God bless the Duggars and especially little Josie. I have watched them grow over the past few years and thoroughly enjoy their show. It gives me hope:-)

  18. Judit Says:

But WHAT is going on with the child? We want some news, excuse us.

  19. passing through Says:

    You guys are kidding right?

If its God and not science then God must hate babies in the developing nations.

  20. Kitty Says:

Is Layna Related to Jenny ? You both had a grandpa born in 1920 who was around 2 lbs . What the ??????

  21. Kitty Says:

Ok I’m WAITING TO HEAR SOMETHING ABOUT THE BABY . i WANT PICTURES AND NEWS OF HOW SHE IS DOING . Thanks people

  22. emily Says:

Can You tell me about the baby ? Do You have any pictures . Come on I want some news people .

  23. babs Says:

I wouldn’t be suprised if she was already pregnant!

  24. susan wingler Says:

God bless all .Good luck to mom and dad and the baby .I LOVE the show your kids are great.

  25. Layna Says:

To ‘passing through;’ No, God does not hate babies in developing nations, any more than He hate the people of Haiti. We are so blessed to live in a nation that has the freedom, resources and ability to develop technology and use it for the benefit of our people and the entire world. many of these developing countries don’t have the financial resources because the governments are so focused on political power and control. They are uneducated, and kept that way to keep the ruling class in power.
Enough rant; Keep up the fight Duggars, I’m looking forward to when your show is back.

  26. Amanda Says:

I am so happy little Josie is doing good. Its almost been 2 months now. Wow! Time flys. I cant wait to watch the duggars tommorow. I just love them!!!!!!!!

  27. sara Says:

I am very hapy to see Josie doing so well.
Mr Duggar speaks of what his children will learn through this, I hope he will learn something as well, that being his wife is not a machine and enough is enough.

  28. jnbama Says:

God said go forth and multiply and they took that serious. Maybe this is nature’s way of saying enough!!!!! I wonder if they are on welfare, WIC, or food stamps? They are doing this for publicity or either they need to go to the health clinic & get free condoms!!!!
    SPAY & NUETER!!!!!!
