HOUSTON, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) – A Texas woman was sentenced to federal court for stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a credit union, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Donna Gonzalez, 40, of Houston, former Saint John Vianney Federal Credit Union manager, stole $56,862.36 from the credit union, defrauding some of its customers as well.

While employed as a manager of credit union, Gonzalez issued, without authorization, official checks made payable to Bank of America, negotiated against funds in dormant customers’ accounts and deposited those checks into her personal bank account maintained at Bank of America.

Gonzalez was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison without parole, followed by a three-year-term of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay as restitution the amount she stole, $56,862.36, to the San Antonio Credit Union, previously known as the Saint John Vianney Federal Credit Union.
