Texas, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The last minute attempt by the attorneys’ of Timothy Wayne Adams to get a stay of execution for their client has failed.

The 42-year-old was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death for the killing of his 19-month-old son in 2002. Adams fatally shot his son twice during a standoff with the police at the family’s apartment.

The application on Tuesday for stay of execution was rejected by justices in Texas. When the application was filed, it was just minutes to the scheduled execution of Adams. His attorneys argued that a woman who found herself in a very similar situation as that of Adams was spared and given life in prison instead.

That argument failed to convince the judges who ordered that the execution should go ahead. He will be killed by lethal injection in Huntsville.

It ought to be mentioned that the police tactical team moved into Adams apartment in 2002 and a standoff ensued. He threatened to shoot his son, Timothy Jr, and as the police tried to talk him into not doing it, he went ahead and shot the child twice from close range. He was then overpowered by the officers and taken to custody.
