keele Chattanooga, Mar 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Tennessee woman – Keele Maynor who faked the illness of breast cancer has pleaded guilty in court. After faking her non-existent illness, she was able to get thousands of dollars from people who believed her story, and wanted to help her with her treatment. She had even netted money from a church and other charitable organizations also. She was the nucleus of a huge scam that netted her thousands of dollars worth of sick leave, which were donated by her City Hall co-workers.

After her cover was blown, the 39-year-old Keele Maynor had no option but to plead guilty to theft and forgery. A judge in the Chattanooga court set the 17th of May, as the date of her sentencing. Currently she is not behind bars, and is free on bond. Both Keele and the Assistant District Attorney Neal Pinkston declined to comment on the case.

Keele Maynor’s fake illness claims were discovered in December 2008, and then she was also forced to resign from her job as an assistant in the city’s land development office. Since then she has also refused to speak to the media, and hasn’t released any public statement on her own too.
