Teen Sailor Abby Sunderland Rescued

lauraJune 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) 16-year-old sailor Abby Sunderland was rescued on Saturday as a French fishing vessel reached the remote place in the Indian ocean where the sailor was stranded.

Abby Sunderland was stranded in the rough sea for around 48 hours before the rescue boat named Il De La Reunion reached to her. On Saturday morning the Il De La Reunion notified the family of Abby Sunderland that their girl was found in good health and that the rescue operation has been successful.

Abby Sunderland had set out to go round the world in her yacht. However, she reportedly lost her satellite contact on Thursday. A distress call was received from the teen sailor. It seemed that her yacht was hit by the rough wave that damaged its communication equipments.

However, according to reports Abby Sunderland has said to media sources that although her yacht got damaged by the rough waves she managed to remain in “good spirits”. She also added that everything happened pretty fast and that she feels lucky that there was a boat “that could come and get me where I was”.

It seems that it was Abby Sunderland’s undaunted spirit that led her to remain in good health. According to a media sources she had mentioned that Out there in the sea, she sis not get scared of the situation she was because that “doesn’t really do any good”.

The teen who went on her yacht to become the youngest person to sail across the globe in her yacht had to abandon her mission for the time being. Abby Sunderland is yet to reach her home and the family does not know for sure where she would be taken next.
