Teen charged in a teacher’s murder at the Cheltenham Youth Facility
July 29th, 2010 - 8:20 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattUpper Marlboro, July 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A teenage boy is in deep legal trouble after first degree murder charges were leveled against him. He’s also been charged with making an attempt to rape his teacher at Cheltenham Youth Facility located in Prince George’s County.
The teenager was 13 years at the time of the incident, and he turned 14 earlier in the month. It ought to be mentioned that his 65 year old teacher Hannah E. Wheeling died on February 18 outside the facility for young law breakers. Her body was found partially naked and was discovered by another worker of the juvenile facility.
The teenager is reportedly from Laurel but his identity can’t be revealed, as he’s not an adult. Prosecutors have begun a bid to get the teen charged legally as an adult and he could face severe punishment, if convicted. The first degree charge of murder carries a maximum punishment of life imprisonment without parole and the first degree rape charge could also lead to a life imprisonment sentence.
On the other hand he could be sentenced to rehabilitation for non adults until his 21st birthday, if he is convicted as a non adult.
