Ted Koppel’s Son’s Death Linked To Alcohol And Drug Overdose

koppelJune 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Medical examiners confirmed on Friday that the death of former ABC reporter Ted Koppel’s son Andrew Koppel was due to an overdose of alcohol and drugs. The report revealed that his death was caused due to over-intoxication from an overdose of alcohol, heroin, cocaine, diazepam and Levamisole. The last is used to cut the effect of the other drugs. The death occurred on 31st May this year was thought to be due to accidental overdosing.

Andrew Koppel,40, and his friend were reportedly out for a night of heavy drinking on May 30. After a while his friend took him the apartment of Belinda Caban who said that she did not know Andrew Koppel personally. The friend let him sleep off the intoxication at the apartment. Later when they came to wake him up they found him not moving.

They called the emergency number but the paramedics declared him dead for the past 4 hours. The sources of the drugs that caused the overdose have not been available to the authorities. The friend who was present at the time of his death reportedly knew him for one month. The woman in whose apartment the death took place was unavailable for comment after the news of the drug overdose report was released. The police have however ruled out any possibility of foul play.

Andrew Koppel had battled alcohol addiction throughout his adult life. He had been charged for DUI in 1989 and 1991. He live in Queens with his girlfriend and daughter. His girlfriend is presently pregnant with their second child.
