London, Oct 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The tea-cup sized pigs are the latest craze for the Britishers. The pigs are really small in size but have their cute quotient in large quantities. These pocket-sized pigs are a variant of the rare kune kune breed, which are originally found in New Zealand.

Entrepreneur Chris Murray, co-owner of the Pennywell farm near Buckfastleigh, England began cross-breeding them in 2000 and after so many years of toil, he believes he has created the perfect pet pig.

However they cost quite a packet and are priced at around 700 pounds and they weigh just 9oz at birth. They are fully-grown in 2 years but then also, they weigh just 65lb and are around 14 inches tall.

Contrary to popular myth, the pigs are very clean and hygienic and enjoy the company of people.

Celebrities, including Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, are snapping up the adorable animals, which grow to just 14in tall.

‘Demand for micro pigs is soaring and we are inundated with inquiries every day,’ says Jane Croft, 42, who has given up her job to breed them full time.

‘It’s amazing how popular they have suddenly become and just how many people want pigs as pets.’

‘Micro pigs make fantastic pets as they are very low maintenance. You don’t have to take them for walks and they have very few health issues,’ said Miss Croft.

‘They don’t make much noise, they are easy to toilet train and once they have bonded with you they are very loving.
