Littleton, Feb 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Math’s teacher saved many lives, when he sprang into action, and took a gunman under control. The gunman was shooting indiscriminately at the students in a parking lot, and had also hurt 2 students. Many more lives would have had been lost, if David Benke, a Math’s teacher, hadn’t sprung into action, and tried to save the students.

According to reports David Benke confronted the 32-year-old gunman, tackled him nicely, and also pinned him to the ground, with the aid of another teacher. Both the teachers were instrumental in putting an end to the shooting episode. This shooting spree could have had been more violent, if the gunman was not captured. And ironically this particular shooting episode happened very near to the place where the Columbine High School massacre had happened more than a decade ago.

“Unfortunately he got another round off before I could grab him,” Benke said. “He figured out that he wasn’t going to be able to get another round chambered before I got to him so he dropped the gun and then we were kind of struggling around trying to get him subdued.” The police officials said that the injured students are hospitalized and the gunman is in their custody.
