Tampa University Faces Gunman Scare

tampaTampa, Florida, Oct 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The whole of Monday proved to be a very adventure packed interlude for all those who were present on the campus of the University of South Florida, widely known as Tampa University. The campus had to be shut down to the public access, after a gunman had been found posing a threat on the campus grounds. After the incident, the authorities reportedly had two men in custody for questioning in relation to the incident. Students and campus authorities could return to their normal routine about three hours after the incident had been reported.

According to various news sources, no one on the campus had been reported to have been injured. Witness account has revealed that no shots had been fired on the ground during the time that the reported gunman had been present on the campus.

The university had reportedly posted an alert almost immediately after the freak gunman was reported to have been spotted on the campus. The alert posted on the University website reportedly told the people to secure the locks and stay indoors until the search had been completed.

Authorities have revealed tat they have one named Vincent T. McCoy, a 23 year old student in custody, on the charge of the incident. Reportedly, the Tampa Police Department had had their bomb squad examine McCoy’s backpack thoroughly and had then rendered it safe. It has been reported that he had cooperated with the police and no weapons had been found on him. He is presently held on a $7,500 bond. Another person, who is said to have had a knife on him, was placed under arrest. This incident has however been reported to be unrelated to the gunman incident.
