ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – A Tampa, Florida woman was found dead inside an abandoned residence when local police officers were investigating a sexual battery case, the St. Petersburg Police Department announced on Friday.

Last Tuesday April 6, Jeannetta Hall, 38, reported that she was the victim of a sexual battery. Hall claimed that a man attacked her and took her to a vacant residence and raped her. She took the police officers to the alleged crime scene. In the abandoned house, police officers perceived a strong odor emanating from inside the residence.

On the second floor, they found the decomposed body of Kathleen Baur, 51, partially clothed. No obvious signs of trauma were noticed. Police agents interviewed Hall once more to clarify some inconsistencies in her initial statements to the police.

Hall eventually admitted to have made up the sexual battery in order to direct officers to Baur’s body. Sometime in March, she and her boyfriend, Keith Gary, 19, were smoking crack cocaine with Baur when she started having medical issues.

The three of them entered the abandoned residence where Baur collapsed and died. Hall and Gary staged the body to make the scene look like she had been sexually assaulted, robbed and murdered.

Gary and Hall provided false information to the officers during the first stages of the investigation. Both were arrested and charged.
