Ogden, Utah, Mar 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An Internal Revenue Service building in Ogden, Utah found itself amidst security threat after a possible ‘hazardous material’ was found in the building on Monday. The hazardous material crews were immediately summoned to the building and initial investigation has revealed that the suspicious substance is non harmful in anyway.
It has been reported that an envelope containing a suspicious substance was found in the building, which is about 35 miles north of Salt Lake City. In order to avoid any untoward incident, part of the building was evacuated while some other parts were reportedly locked down. Meanwhile, the Salt Lake Division of the Federal Bureau of investigation has confirmed that it responded to a possible dangerous material threat at an IRS building in Ogden. At the same time, Pete Rendina, a spokesperson of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service has revealed to a news source that the substance which created widespread panic in the IRS building is non-hazardous. Although information about the actual nature of the material in the envelope has not been available, it appeared to have seeds inside it. It has also been verified that although there were some medical emergency in the building, it was not in relation to the incident. However, FBI officials have refused to divulge much information about the incident as the investigation is still going on.
The threat on the building which houses offices of the Internal Revenue Service was successful in creating widespread alarm as it came just after last month’s plane crash in a federal building by Joseph Stack in Austin, Texas, which accommodated offices of the United States tax agency, IRS.
