July 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A German prosecutor has revealed that a suspected former Nazi death camp guard named Samuel Kunz has been indicted of taking part in the killing of 430,000 Jews at the Belzec death camp. 88-year-old Samuel Kunz is also being charged with the deaths of another 10 Jews although in different incidents. The case has however been filed at youth court as Samuel Kunz was still a minor at the time of the Nazi killing.
Matthias Nordmeyer, the Court spokesman said to media sources that the cases have been filed at the youth court in the western city of Bonn. However, the spokesman added that whether the suspected murderer would be brought to the court for trial as an adult or as an adolescent would be decided by the judge. If the judge decides to put Samuel Kunz under trial as a minor, then according to many analysts the sentencing might be a bit lenient.
Samuel Kunz served as a guard at the Belzec death camp from January 1942 to July 1943. Apart from it he had also allegedly committed personal murders and taken the life of total 10 Jews. A Nazi-hunting organization named Simon Wiesenthal Center has listed Samuel Kunz as its third most-wanted Nazi Suspect. The Police raided the house of Samuel Kunz back in January this year and the prosecutors said at that time that the retired civil servant has denied being personally involved in any killings. The German investigators have questioned the Nazi suspect many a times in the past but it was only recently that his name surfaced during a trial of another Nazi war crime suspect John Demjanjuk.
