holoJan 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) James von Brunn, who was charged with murdering a security guard at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. in the month of June last year, died on Wednesday in a prison hospital. The accused was 89 years old at the time of his death and has died due to natural causes, authorities have revealed.

James von Brunn, who was known to be a white supremacist, unleashed unimaginable violence at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum last year that sent shock waves across the nation. The incident led to the death of 39 year old black security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns, whom he shot at point bank range. However, the shooter was also injured in the incident as other security guards fired back at him. The heinous crime was supposedly carried out as a protest against the Jewish community by the frenzied man, who had revealed his extreme views through his websites.

Following the incident, James von Brunn, who was also a World War 2 veteran, was charged with first-degree murder and several other charges which could have enabled him to get the death sentence. However, the shooter passed away before standing trial which had been delayed for the past few months because of his ill-health.

Prosecutors had termed the incident as a ’suicide mission’ as the culprit had taken care of the finances for his family and at the same time had also made plans for his funeral. Meanwhile, James von Brunn’s attorney A.J. Kramer has described his death as ’sad’, although he refused to comment any further. The accused is survived by his son, who had dissociated from his father following the incident.
