Suspected Al-Qaeda leader arrested in west Mosul, Iraq

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) – A suspected Al-Qaeda in Iraq leader was arrested on Wednesday by Iraqi Security Forces during a joint security operation in west Mosul, the United States Forces in Iraq announced.

Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) and United States advisers searched a building while looking for the suspected Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) leader. The suspect is allegedly responsible for conducting murders against Iraqi judicial and police officials.

Furthermore the alleged AQI leader coordinated improvised explosive device attacks against ISF. Information and evidence gathered from the place helped Iraqi forces to identify and arrest the wanted individual.

Iraqi and U.S. forces conduct joint operations in accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government to target terrorists seeking to disrupt the security and stability of Iraq.
