Suspect in the Atlanta officer killing case denied bail

Atlanta, Jan 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Chasity Nicole Jones, the 22-year-old Stone Mountain woman who is accused of killing an Atlanta officer with her car, has been denied bail. She appeared before the court today charged with first degree vehicular homicide.

Her application for a bond was rejected after the court was told that Chasity has been cited at least six times in the last five years for various traffic offences. She has been returned to the Fulton County Jail.

Chasity hit and killed Senior Police Officer Gail Thomas earlier this week. Thomas had responded to a call to assist a colleague with at an accident scene when the accident happened. Chasity allegedly slammed her vehicle into Thomas as she was getting out of the police car. She was killed instantly. Police say when the incident happened, Chasity was in the car with three other people. The others have not been charged in the case. The accident happened on Tuesday on the Brookwood Interchange.

The Fulton Court was told that Chasity had been cited six times in the last five years. She remained silent during the court proceeding on Friday. Her preliminary hearing has been scheduled on the 9th of February.
