Jan 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A reputed American Newspaper has reported that the Stuxnet Worm was a joint brain child of Israel and United States. The reports have stated that although the idea was conceived by the Israelis, United States played a major role in testing and development of the virus, that aims to paralyze the Iranian effort to proceed with its nuclear testing.
According to the sources, the virus has the ability to damage Siemens’ Step 7 industrial devices, supported by the Windows. The newspaper said that Siemens, who developed the SCADA system for Iran, helped the Idaho National Laboratory experts, in identifying the bottlenecks of the SCADA system. Idaho National Laboratory, which is regarded as one of the pioneers of the US nuclear research facility, trapped the vulnerability of this system and created the Stuxnet Worm. Even the Israel’s Dimona site, which tested the virus, created a “Virtually Identical” centrifuges, to that of Iran’s. After it was incorporated in Iran, it has already created a huge damage on its centrifuges and nuclear energy plants.
Initially, the Israelis wanted to resort to a bunker busting bombs, that could destroy the nuclear testing plant in Iran. However, as that would have led to a further political turbulence between the two nations, they decided to call for a viral attack, so that their purpose could be solved and at the same time, no one would be able to trace the plotters. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad admitted about two months ago, that a worm has affected their machineries, that is taking a toll on the developments of its nuclear programs. He also anticipated that it was done by the nation’s enemies.
