Study says that candy eaters are slimmer

The results have turned on its head what most people think about sweets.
The researchers though were quick to add that eating sweets did not help to shed weight. The researchers just believe that maybe those who eat candies tend to exercise more and it in a way confirmed the age-long view held by scientists that consuming moderate sweet is not associated with being overweight.
The researchers led by Carol O’Neil of Louisiana State University Agricultural Center examined 15,000 US adults. All the participants were aged from 19 years upwards. The mission of the researchers was to determine the diet of the respondents.
The respondents were quizzed on what they ate 24 hours ago. The researchers were called the assimilate the 24-hour recall. The survey was conducted between 1999 and 2004. After the analysis of the study, it was found that 20 percent of the participants revealed that they had consumed candy. It ought to be mentioned here that candy in this sense included chocolates, sugar and other sweets.
When the scientists checked the BMI of the participants, they realized that the average BMI of those who had consumed the sweets were slightly lower at 27.7 compared with the 28.2 for those who did not consume sweets.
