Paris, Nov 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former International Monetary Fund boss Dominic Strauss-Khan is under investigation for allegedly having a link to a call girl ring. Strauss-Kan, who was widely tipped to become the next French leader, had to drop out of politics for some time because of a sex scandal in the United States earlier in the year.

The French newspaper L’Express reports that the country’s police are looking into allegations that Strauss-Khan was a client of a call girl ring located in the northern part of France. According to the report, Strauss-Khan was supplied the women when he was on diplomatic trips. Sources say Strauss-Kahn’s wife may not stand by him this time.

The lawyers of Strauss-Khan have denied the allegations saying their client is a victim of media vindictiveness. The lawyers described the allegations as “dangerous and malicious insinuations.”

The French police are expected to interrogate Strauss-Khan on the allegations. The former IMF chief says he will take legal action against L’Express, alleging that the paper has invaded his privacy.

Strauss-Khan may not be charged for the services of the prostitutes because French laws recognize prostitution. However when it is determined that a third party paid for the services of the prostitutes, he will be charged with corruption.
