Sep 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A massive power outage in Pittsburgh has left over 82,000 holes without electricity after a storm knocked out the power over 48 hours ago. Much of those Duquesne Light customers will be without electricity until at least Saturday, with others possibly even later than that, according to the electric company.

Of the 82,000 homes, only 23,000 have had their lights restored. The massive outage was said to be caused by the storms which hit the Pittsburgh area, and left downed trees and power lines in it’s wake. The National Weather Service stated that it was not the rain that caused so much trouble, but the high winds which toppled trees onto electric lines everywhere.

600,000 homes and businesses are supplied with electricity by Duquesne Lights, which is a traditional utility company. It is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the outage has occurred. They will have the power back on to all of the affected customers “as soon as they can.”
